Due to the frequent traffic and extensive wear of South Washington Street and the potential safety hazards presented by the deterioration of the road condition as well the need for South Washington to be an access road to help promote future economic development, the City of Mount Vernon has chosen this road as a project to be resurfaced and rehabilitated. South Washington is 0.75 miles long and is located between Highway 280 and the city limit line.
